Warriors of Mary fight against their weaknesses, sin. They fight against temptations and everything that draws them away from the Lord God. As Scripture says:
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.” (1 P 5,8-11)
Each Warrior of Mary fightsfor “holiness for himself and his family, fights for peace between father and son for fidelity to his wife and his family. Lying on the cross we repent for our own sins and those of the whole earth.” – as the words of the hymn of Mary’s Warriors say . The Warrior fights for the cause of Our Lady through daily prayer of the Rosary, asking for needed graces. He tries to participate in the daily Eucharist and frequent Confession.
The logo of Mary’s Warriors carries a certain message. Every detail of it has a meaning. The two swords symbolize brotherhood, community. Because in the struggle against sin and weaknesses we are not alone. We have brothers on whom we can count, who accompany us in prayer and growing in faith. The sword, on the other hand, is a symbol of the spiritual struggle against sin, Satan (the source of all evil and hatred) and one’s male weaknesses, which today are so destructive to marriage and family. Swords were possessed by Angels in many visions of Mystics and Saints as attributes of the spiritual struggle against evil. In addition, they are a reference to the tradition of the ethos of medieval chivalry (defense of the weakest, special respect for women, the honor code of chivalry).
According to the founder of the WM movement, Fr. Dominic, “The Warriors of Mary is a men’s religious movement created to respond to the powerful crisis of masculinity and fatherhood in today’s world, which is affecting the vast majority of society.” Thus, in the men’s group, men learn to build fraternal and supportive relationships. This gives them the strength to practice love of God and neighbor, especially in the family. This specificity also comes from the experience of the founder of the Warriors of Mary: – As a Salesian called to special work with male youth and men, I offered them Salesian spirituality, with a special emphasis on the chivalric ethos that is so close to every man.
Men of all ages can join our regional and national meetings. The meetings are open to any man. The age range of 18 – 50 applies only to the admittance of candidates for the Passion of Mary Warrior. This is because the goal of our community is to form young men to be good fathers and husbands. For more on this, see our statutes, available here.
Warriors both work and pray during the day. Following the motto of St. Benedict of Nursia: “Ora et labora” – pray and work. We try to organize the day in such a way that we give glory to God, work and also have time for ourselves, family and friends. When God comes first then everything is in the right place.
Rosary processions through the streets of Polish cities are our penitential prayer, we usually pray for the intention of the residents of a particular city, for those in power there. Our presence in public spaces is a support for many believers who feel alienated in their communities. We are also part of the apostolic Church, that is, the one that, in the words of Pope Francis, preserves and transmits the teaching heard from the apostles. And we, too, want to transmit Christ to all – especially to modern men. Our public prayers are proof and testimony that there are men in the Church who testify to the real work of the Lord God. Each of them has his own individual way to Him.
To join the community, you must attend regional meetings in your area. To do so, contact the group leader in your region. The contact can be found on the map available here. In addition to the meetings, there are also nationwide meetings, participation in which is also a condition to join the fold. More information is on the page How to become a Warrior of Mary.
If such people do not function in a non-sacramental relationship and live in chastity, participating systematically in sacramental life, then they can approach the fraternal conversation.
These people still belong to the Movement and can participate in both national and regional meetings.
No. National and regional meetings always remain open, and Passover is only if you decide to start formal formation, which must be explicitly agreed with the Group Leader. Regardless of your decision, you are always welcome at the meetings!
